Leo Caithness & Rebecca Huggett created the Carnival Arts Group in 1996 to offer communities in Hereford a chance to get involved with the City Carnival and make costumes and structures.
After the City Carnival ceased we carried on, offering our services to schools and colleges and events. Over the years we have worked all over the country (and beyond) creating and delivering workshops & Art Commissions as well as taking on production roles at large scale events.
In 2014 we revived the Hereford River Carnival with a team of volunteers producing an event that brought local communities together and provided the city with a free celebration of the river and the people who surround it. This is now an annual event with the City Councils backing and under the under the wing of the Plynlimon Trust, a local community charity.
In 2017 The Carnival produced an evening performance and torch lit procession which was attended by 3,000 people and the numbers for the daytime event was estimated at close to 15,000.
